That’s pure BS Miss Best!
I have been a bit of a naughty Miss Best these past few months. You may have noticed my blogging activity has been a bit on the slim side. See, the thing is that I just don’t make food anymore.
What??? Yes, I KNOW! Crazy huh? But that’s honestly what I have been thinking! I thought that there is no point in blogging …because I really don’t make food any more. Yes, really! No more food!! But after several months of this limiting belief, I realised….WTF, Miss BEST that is utter, 100% BS! Of course you make food! I mean you are alive, you haven’t turned into a breatharian, and you don’t eat out all the time, and you certainly don’t have a personal chef (yet!) so you must be making some kind of food!
Then I realised that my habits have changed. For most of my adult life I have had a hard core love affair with food. Reading about it. Shopping for ingredients. Creating exciting new dishes. Spending hours styling and photographing food. Making lavish meals for guests. But while I still adore food, I am finding I crave other things in life; exercising almost every day, for example, and investing time in fulfilling relationships, and of course working on projects that I love.
So now my meals are less complicated, and certainly less time consuming. And I thought that wasn’t very sexy. But then I thought, hey! this is great…surely you guys also want inspiration for meals that take 5-10 minutes to make, are super yummy and help give you the zoooooom you need to power on through the day? I mean…we can’t potter about in the kitchen all day everyday!
Well, there you have it! Pow…done is this limiting belief that I have nothing to contribute. I am going to continue to share my recipes…they just may be a bit different. You see, there is something else I have changed along the way. And this change has really helped me in so many areas of my life. It is the inspiring Kendall Summerhawk’s moto of ‘progress not perfection’. I used to be SUCH a darn perfection-princess (hence the hours of food styling, stubbornly taking picture after picture for a great shot, and hunting down the perfect ingredient !) So, if it’s OK with you, we are just going to have to rock with it if my photos are not as super sexy as before, and perhaps sometimes for super simple recipes I will just say ‘a splash of this or a handful of that’. After all, the simpler the recipe the quicker it will be for you to make it!
You with me? I hope so, because here comes a recipe for something I have been eating every lunchtime this week. It’s super quick to make, very satisfying and really yummy! Does a warm ‘pizza’ borlotti bean and avocado salad sound good to you? Groovy, then scoot on over to this page to grab the recipe!!
It’s lovely to be back. Happy weekend!!
